It’s been a long time coming, but HD PS2 games are finally starting to appear on PSN. Starting last week with God of War’s 1 and 2, this week sees Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time getting an HD facelift, along with 3D support.
The game first launched in 2003, to massive critical acclaim, and essentially relaunched the franchise for Ubisoft. In fact, the very same trilogy received a 4th, interim instalment this year. Sands of Time takes players on a quest to defeat an evil Vizier, with some spectacular acrobatics and a time rewinding mechanic that still seems unique and rewarding to this day. The game was an absolute blast back in the day, and I’m somewhat eager to see how the HD facelift has improved it, and whether it’s a version of good quality or not. Initial impressions of the game on the internet have showcased a somewhat spotty frame rate, so hopefully there’ll be a trial to test out, so you can truly look before you leap.
Either way, Sands of Time is out today, and will set you back $14.99.
