Publisher XSEED is well known for bringing Eastern games to the West. And there just so happens to be enough western love for video games of the East that they’re bringing Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus to Vita in North America this Fall. While the game is primarily destined for PSN, there will be a limited run of a retail version which will include a soundtrack CD, “Shinobi Syllabus” with profiles of the shinobi students, gameplay strategies, and illustrations.
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is described as a side-scrolling battle adventure game and sequel to last year’s Senran Kagura Burst (which is also coming to Vita soon). Ken Berry, Executive Vice President of XSEED Games, says:
Ever since we announced SENRAN KAGURA Burst, PS Vita fans have been clamoring for SHINOVI VERSUS, and we’re thrilled to be granting them their request. The SENRAN KAGURA series has such deep and involving lore established through its games, manga and anime, and the fanbase is extremely loyal – we can’t wait for them to get their hands on SHINOVI VERSUS.
The story of Shinovi Versus has players taking control of the girls from four different schools and battling it out to become the last shinobi squad standing. There will be 20 fighters to choose from with each having their own unique weapons, techniques, and special moves. The Ninja Arts system will change a character’s outfit powering them up mid-battle. Apparently the in-game hilarity goes over-the-top with insane mid-air combos, exploding clothes when hit, and more.
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is being developer by Tamsoft and will include a standard single player adventure as well as a four-player online mode. XSEED says more info will trickle through in the months leading up to the game’s Fall 2014 release window.
