My Thoughts

I actually started a new save file in Super Mario 64 two days ago, and I can say with certainty that our current generation is in dire need of a whimsical platforming adventure. Contrast is decent, and Knack is playable, I suppose, but both games offer little environmental exploration. We need a game of this genre that encourages, not inhibits, exploration. The inclusion of meaning – i.e. tackling racism in the game – is an added bonus. Perhaps The Last Tinker will fit the bill and finally rip me from my N64. I think Alice: Madness Returns is the most recent 3D platformer that I found exciting/interesting/well-designed. Thoughts?
