DrinkBox have more than just Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition in development. In an exclusive reveal with Destructoid, the Toronto-based studio announced Severed.

Described as a mix between Mega Man, Infinity Blade, and Punch-Out, the first-person dungeon crawler sees players take on the role of a mysterious woman who awakens to discover part of her arm is missing. Through its nonlinear progression, players will be able to discover the world of Severed at their own pace, and claim the flesh of their enemies in an order that suits their play style to exploit the weaknesses of their foes. While that aspect of the game mirrors a certain blue bomber, the next follows that of Little Mac in Punch-Out, where enemies have a certain pattern of movement with a split second tell alerting players to attack. All of the game’s combat will be handled with gesture controls like Infinity Blade. In addition to these physical attacks, players will be able to cast spells in battle, as well as in exploration.

While DrinkBox wouldn’t commit to platforms outside of mobile, they said it was a natural fit for hardware like 3DS, Wii U and Vita. They’re even humoring the idea of implementing PlayStation Move, Project Morpheus, and Kinect support for a release on other home consoles.

Severed is expected to launch sometime next year.
