Newly formed indie development studio Big Deez Productions has partnered with Shaquille O’Neil and indiegogo to allow potential fans to show their support (with money) for a new Shaq-Fu game. The team is comprised of developers spanning franchises like HALO, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield, Killzone, Max Payne, Duke Nukem, and many more.
What little gameplay is shown in the video embedded above is apparently inspired by the visuals from the most recent Street Fighter games. So far, the indiegogo for Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is not necessarily there to fund the game, but instead to gauge how much interest there is for the game. The promise that has been made thus far is that this game has only two things in common with the atrocious original released back in 1994: it’s name and the star of the game.
Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn will be a old-school feeling beat’em up with all tech of today. Unfortunately, it’s being developed for PC, with only the stretch goals seemingly keeping it from releasing on other platforms in the following order: iOS/Android, Xbox 360/PS3, PSVita/3DS, Wii U, Xbox One/PS4. With the current indiegogo funding around $24k since March 6th (today!), it’s absolutely possible to get a PS3 version at $775k and even a Vita version at 960k. But they’ll need to raise roughly $36k/day for a PS4 version at $1.6M by April 20th.
If you’re interested in becoming business partners with Shaq, don’t walk – run to the Shaq-Fu indiegogo page now and pick a tier that best suites you. For only $500, aspiring musicians can get credited for music in the game! For only $3,000, you can get an vintage pair of Reebok Shaq Attack sneakers in size 22, just the right size!
