10tons Ltd. has debuted on PlayStation Vita with a stellar release in Sparkle and is now preparing King Oddball Ends the World. It’s another port, but there is room for more bite sized games on Vita and easily nothing else quite like this right now.
Play as King Oddball and latch onto boulders with his crazy long tongue before hurling them toward tanks, buildings, and other human threats. Its physics based so trajectory is extremely vital to puzzle completion and taking down three or more targets will earn an extra boulder.
- Single tap gameplay. How hard can it be?
- Unique skill based physics puzzle
- More than 120 levels + secrets!
- Eccentric art style
- Original music by Jonathan Geer
What looks like something our pal Thomas Hopper might have helped influence, King Oddball Ends the World is a Vita port of the same game previously released on mobile devices. It looks to take it’s gameplay cues from the likes of Angry Birds as can be seen in the trailer embedded above, but developer 10tons Ltd says the similarities end with throwing an object at other objects.
There is no specific release date for King Oddball at this time, but we have reached out to the developer for more information. For now, “soon” is all we have to work with. Let us know what you think about King Oddball in the comments and be sure to check out our review of Sparkle.
[UPDATE] 10tons Ltd has gotten back to me with word that they were aiming for a simultaneous SCEA/SCEE release. And while the game has been released in Europe as of this past Wednesday, it did not get cleared by format QA for North America. They are working to resolve the problem and resubmit. I think we can expect to see King Oddball release before the end of January if all goes well during resubmission.
