Don’t let the name throw you off, Vacc-Balls-Chin is actually a fun little puzzle game. The Vacc comes from “Vaccine” as you are sliding balls of different bacteria around trying to pop them when a link of 3 or more is made. The visuals remind me of something like Moyashimon, if you have ever seen that anime. The big reason why this made the list is that it has head to head online multiplayer. I was surprised that I was actually able to find some games too, mostly with Japanese players. Like with BootyTrap’s other PSM game online matches require an in-game currency which you can grind out, or buy for with some in-app purchases. If that scares you a bit, the single player is still enough fun to warrant a spot on this list. — Chris

Rebel was one of the initial titles available at the PlayStation Mobile launch and quickly became one of my favorites. At its core Rebel is a score attack game that puts a unique spin on the genre by offering you no way to attack. In order to defeat enemies you must dodge their attacks while lining up their shots so that they take each other out, while also trying to collect the gems that scatter the field to increase your score. Offering you three different maps, three different modes, and a host of power-ups and costumes to unlock, each play session of Rebel offers a lot of strategic and fun gameplay, with optional tilt controls that work surprisingly well. Unfortunately without any built in-way to compete with others you may lose some interest in the game once you unlock everything. — Andrew

Instead of trying to scare you Haunt the House allowed you to be the one scaring unsuspecting people within four separate buildings throughout town. You were able to manipulate objects all throughout each building and cause tons of paranormal things to occur. The bigger the scare he bigger the increase in your scare meter and the more opportunities there were to create even larger paranormal activities. Haunt the House had a really neat look to it and featured a few different animations for every item in the game that you could interact with. (Which ended up being quite a lot.) Unfortunately Haunt the House ends very quickly and there’s not a lot of reason to play through a second time. It was one of the great early PSM games but unfortunately seems to have been forgotten with time. — Curtis

Clearly inspired by the ZX Spectrum Rock Boshers DX put you in control of a Victorian explorer in the 1880’s stuck on Mars. Throughout the 20 stages in the game you’ll need to not only find the door to escape but also collect hidden snacks throughout a level, open locked doors, and defeat numerous types of enemies. Levels were short making it easy to play in short bursts and the music, done by Electric Cafe (Aqua Kitty), was quite good. Rock Boshers DX suffered from some random stuttering and a completion time that wasn’t much longer than an hour. There were some reasons to play again and collect everything but ultimately probably not enough to warrant multiple play-throughs. — Curtis

Unless you strongly dislike match-3, mahjong, and slide puzzles, then you should download ZooZooGo. It’s cutesy and lighthearted; you’re not likely going to be scorechasing in any of the game types. But it is fun unlocking new exhibits in the zoo, progressing through the mahjong train, and completing slide puzzles that even I can handle. The exhibits feature different match-3 shticks such as collecting frozen wooly mammoth bones. I sort of wish the game did a bit more on this front, but that’s my only gripe with it. I spent the most time with this game on a road trip down to North Carolina. It’s not taxing, attention-wise, and doesn’t take up much space (32MB). Though I’m not crazy about categorizing games into ‘type of player’ genres, I would definitely file ZooZooGo in the ‘casual’ section of the PSM library. Worth a play if you are or know someone who can’t get enough mahjong/match-3/slide puzzles. — Eric
