PSNStores Weekly Roundup: January 14th – 20th 2013

I had many gaming plans for this weekend, I was finally going back and finishing up Dyad (I have still yet to see Eye of the Duck) and play through at least one more episode of The Walking Dead. Unfortunately Persona 4 would have none of that, allowing me to play only one level of Dyad before sucking me back in. But I did manage to “play” something different. Like a lot of Vita owners in North America I woke up a little different this week…using my Vita instead of my old alarm clock. Wake Up Club was (finally) released this past Tuesday and I have been taking full advantage of it this week, waking up in first place these past 5 days. I wonder how long that streak will last with a dreaded Monday coming up?
If you have been looking forward to something new to play then you have a few interesting options this week once the store updates. For PSN the DUST 514 Beta that PS+ members and a few others have been enjoying for a while now will finally be open for everyone to try out, the classic FMV arcade title Mad Dog McCree (which made a brief and unexpected visit to the store last week) will be released for $7.99, and The Cave the newest title from Double Fine Productions will be available for $14.99. You will be able to pick up the FPS Gun Commando for PSM (a first for the platform) and last but not least the puzzle game escapeVektor will be released on Vita for $9.99, which you can now check out Ben’s review to see if it’s something you would be interested in. Make sure to check out this week’s Sneak Peek for all the details.
Besides escapeVektor we also had reviews for last week’s PSM releases Haunt the House: Terrortown and Life of Pixel and the newest PSN title from Grasshopper Manufacture Black Knight Sword.
If you have been on the fence about trying any PlayStation Mobile games Sony has a great promotion for you. For the next 6 week’s a PSM game will be available for free for one week only so make sure you grab this week’s free title, Samurai Beatdown, before the PSM update and keep an eye out for the next free title. This week saw the release of three new PSM titles and you can check out Nick’s thoughts on Meltdown Moon and Radiant Flux and Chris’s thoughts on iFishing to see if you should add these titles to your collections.
While this week’s PSN maintenance went a tad bit longer then was planned, we got a nice surprise once it was over: You can now use PayPal to add funds to your PSN wallet. By logging into your account on the Sony Entertainment Network website you can find the option there along with the pre-paid and credit card options that we have all been using for years. While it’s probably not something I will take advantage of very often its always great to have options.
