Due to connectivity issues over the weekend, Sony postponed a planned PlayStation Network maintenance on Monday, and have now revealed when the maintenance will take place. Starting tomorrow, Thursday August 27, 2014, users won’t be able to use a variety of network features between 9:40 AM to 4:50 PM Pacific Time (12:40 PM to 7:50 PM Eastern Time). The PlayStation Knowledge Center states that the maintenance is to “upgrade the software for the PlayStation Store.” The PlayStation Forums post is a little less detailed and says it’s to “deploy a series of back-end improvements to the network.”
Online gameplay and apps like Netflix should still run, but you won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store or other services:
If you’ve signed in to the network any time since August 23rd you will be able to play games online and access partner apps such as Netflix during this maintenance period. The PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will not be available during this time, and users may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access these services.
