Following in the footsteps of Tekken Revolution and Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation, Bandai Namco has announced that Ace Combat Infinity and SoulCalibur Lost Swords have surpassed 1 million downloads. The free-to-play games launched on PS3 in May and April respectively. To celebrate the milestones, both games will have commemoration campaigns. Ace Combat Infinity players will be gifted the “Mirage 2000-5 -White Tiger-” special aircraft by checking their notifications by August 18th. SoulCalibur Lost Swords players will be able to enjoy a special quest to gain new characters Ivy and Astaroth as well as acquire special gift items simply by logging on, or experience a brand new campaign. This runs from July 9th to July 23rd.
Free-To-Play has become an increasingly more frequent sight on the PlayStation Network, as evidenced by Sony’s E3 F2P segment. Bandai Namco has taken the somewhat unique approach of retooling their existing IPs to this space. Seeing their success, one has to wonder if other publishers will soon follow suit.
