Capcom announced today that Ultra Street Fighter IV has a release date, or should I say two release dates. The upgrade version will be available on June 3rd (1-day ahead of XBLA) for $14.99. You’ll need to wait until August 5th to purchase the full retail version or the fully loaded digital bundle.
The “Ultra” update brings the character count from the 39 found in the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition update to a final 44 characters including Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento and Decapre. That’s not all, as there they will also be including six new backgrounds: Pitstop 109, Cosmic Elevator, Half Pipe, Mad Gear Hideout, Blast Furnace, and Jurassic Era Research Facility. Ultra will include even more rebalanced gameplay all based on feedback given from fans and likely data collected from SSF:AE tournaments.
If patience is your thing, or you can’t live without the physical copy of the complete game, then I recommend pre-ordering it so you can take advantage of a pretty sweet promotion gifting you the “2014 Challengers Costume Pack” (pre-order costumes trailer). This pack features these five free costumes: Jungle Elena, Medieval Hugo, Pirate Poison, Wizard Rolento and Gladiator Decapre.
Capcom says the new costume pack will only be available to those that pre-order at retail or buy the full digital bundle when it becomes available on August 5th. The retail versions of Ultra Street Fighter IV will include all previous DLC packs making it the definitive edition. So, are you digital or physical?
