When I was younger I used to pass the time by drawing. I’m not much of an artist, so the most you could get out of me were some stick figures. What was once seen as the calling card of the artistically challenged has now developed into a full blown art style utilized by those dripping with talent. One example of that is The Layabouts’ The Legend of Doodle for Vita. As the title implies, the game’s art is doodle style, and while you’d think that would be a simple thing to make, the team have been working on the game for four years. The platformer emphasizes elegant simplicity, and has over 500 bite-sized challenges to tackle while progressing through several worlds that continually add new mechanics, and have hidden secrets to uncover.
The team aren’t willing to commit to a release date or price beyond “soon” and “cheap”. The Layabouts are also bringing Collectems, a Pokémon-inspired RPG, to Vita and PS4.
