Some might call the line shovelware, while others view it as a potential breeding ground for creativity, but there’s no denying that the Simple Series has become a D3 Publisher staple. The line of budget software that birthed the likes of cult faves Earth Defense Force, and OneeChanbara is coming to PlayStation Vita as the @SIMPLE V Series. The first two games are remakes of earlier Simple Series titles, and are scheduled to launch on April 30th in Japan.
@SIMPLE V Series Vol. 1 The Dokodemo Gal Mahjong is a mahjong title. It appears players can interact with the girls outside of the board game. This one is developed by HuneX, and will run you 1500yen.
@SIMPLE V Series Vol. 2 The Tousou Highway Full Boost: Nagoya-Tokyo Gekisou 4-Jikan is a driving game. Based off of some gameplay footage for the PS2 version, this looks like a lot of fun. The Vita remake will cost 1800 yen, and is believed to be developed by Tamsoft.
Modern Simple Series games rarely make it out of Japan, so I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a localization of the Vita series.
