PSNStores Weekly Roundup: October 8th – 14th 2012

While New York Comic Con is known primarily (as its name suggests) for its comics, if you look closely you may spot a game or two, including the Vita version of Rocketbirds Hardboiled Chicken. While the game doesn’t come out till 2013 Eric and Elle captured some offscreen footage showing off some of the updates/changes to help tide you over till next year. If you are a fighting game fan you also have something else to look forward to next year with the announcement of Darkstalkers Resurrection. Combining updated versions of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 you can expect updated graphics, a challenge/tutorial mode, and most importantly GGPO online play to make sure those multiplayer matches run as smooth as possible.

It seems its still too early to count the PSP out as Natsume announced that they will be bringing the strategy RPG Carnage Heart EXA digitally to the platform in North America. EXA is the Japan only remake of the  PS1 game where you design and program robots to bring into battle. Hopefully the game will be compatible with the Vita when it is released in 2013.  In other strategy news XSEED has let the world know that Orgarhythm will be available later this month on October 23rd for the price of $29.99.  This is sure to be an interesting addition to the Vita line up mixing rhythm gameplay with real time strategy.

If you live in Europe the store may look different when you launch it next week as Sony will be rolling out a brand new look for it. Featuring a sleek new carousel design, smart search, screen shots for games, and a new way to group content it should be easier to find something new and interesting to download.  Lets just all hope that they have finally added a way to filter and search your download history. Oh and you won’t have to wait long if you live in North America,  the new look will be launching here on the 23rd. It seems there might be a big change coming to SingStar soon as users of the SingStar viewer were giving a notice that support has been discontinued for the app and that the complete SingStar experience will soon be available to download for free. No other details are known as of now but keep an eye out on the PlayStation Blog (and of course PSNStores.com for coverage)  as an official announcement will probably be coming this week.

If you are like me you have probably been anticipating the release of The Unfinished Swan. Well as we found out last week you don’t have to wait long as the game will be available on October 23rd (or even earlier on the 16th for PS+ members ) but if you can’t wait to see what’s in store you can check out a gameplay glimpse of the first three chapters. The video does contain spoilers for the beginning of the game, so choose accordingly whether to watch or not.

In reviews we have two of the games that came out in this weeks massive store update: the filled to the brim sequel Joe Danger 2 The Movie and Retro City Rampage, the game that should probably hold the Guinness world record for having the most parodies and references in one game.

If you are interested in seeing some gameplay of those two titles you should check out the archive of this weeks PSNStores Live Stream which also includes other new releases Worms Revolution, Derrick the Deathfin, Warlords, and Naughty Bear: Panic In Paradise. If you like free games then you might be interested in knowing about something new we are doing here on the site: #FreeCodeFridays. Every Friday we will be giving out a voucher for a free game and while its too late to win this weeks game, Derick the Deathfin, make sure you head back here this coming Friday for a chance to win. We end off with this past weeks Global Store Update and a Sneak Peek at the October 16th NA update. All of this and more in this edition of the PSNStores Weekly Roundup:
