PAX Prime 2012: Orc Attack

On Saturday, we made our way up to where Casual Brothers was showing Orc Attack. The three of us and one of the devs booted it up, chose our characters, and played through a level. The gameplay was very reminiscent of four player beat-em-ups like Gauntlet Legends and Dynasty Warriors. You can fart and burp, just like a genuine orc. The game encourages cooperation by allowing one player to burp into another’s fart, causing an explosion that turns nearby enemies to stone.
Items such as health pickups, shields, and special weapons drop occasionally, but the build we were playing was a bit glitch when we tried picking them up. At the end of the level, which was pretty lengthy, there was a multi-tiered boss level. You beat up on and dodge timed attacks from a snowman that bursts into a ton of tiny snowmen every once in a while. After defeating the snowman, another snowman appeared which required a subsequent beatdown to vanquish. The whole demo was decent. The game may be fun if it has cross-play support with the Vita. I hope there are features more interesting than hacking and slashing to keep the player around.
