Weighing in at 17 MB, Hulu Plus v1.06 brings the Hulu Plus Android app look and feel to the PS3. Featuring a front end menu that display many more categories and shows without too much scrolling, the new look can do nothing but improve upon the old.
Daniel Bear, Hulu’s Principal Software Dev Lead, jumped onto the PlayStation Blog to announce the update and several of its new bells and whistles such as the “tray-style” layout that performs a little history lookup to determine what might interest you. He also mentions that search display has been improved upon, showing results directly below the search field saving you precious seconds.
For anyone that doesn’t know how Hulu works, essentially, the entire Hulu experience is free when accessed through a PC and supported web browser. However, if you want to access older episodes you need to upgrade to Hulu Plus for $7.99/month. Once you’ve upgraded you will then be able to sign in through the Hulu Plus app on your PS3, Android, iPhone, or other Hulu Plus approved device.
There is one detail that some PS Blog readers may overlook. Bear mentions that this update has come to PlayStation first, though whether its as maybe a timed exclusive or test dummy will be up to you to decide.
