It seems that games in the Oddworld series are like buses. You wait for one to come out, and all of a sudden you’re faced with a veritable deluge of weird. And a deluge of weird is exactly what PSN users are going to get. Not content with just bringing Stranger’s Wrath to PSN, UK developer Just Add Water is bringing over the entire Oddboxx. For those of you blissfully unaware of what the Oddboxx is, it is every game in the Oddworld series, With Stranger’s Wrath and Xbox 1 launch title Munch’s Odyssey both getting the HD treatment, boasting improvements across the board. Just Add Water also confirmed the existence of the “accidentally announced” Abe HD, a remake of the title that started the Oddworld franchise. Not much is known about this one, with a formal reveal expected at E3. However, it is worth noting that Abe HD will not be a part of the Oddboxx, with the PS1 versions of the Odyssey titles set to fill out that particular package.
While Munch’s feature set hasn’t yet been announced, with a press release early next week set to clarify some details, Stranger’s Wrath HD is practically whoring itself out to the PS3’s feature library, with the title set to include 3DTV support, Move integration, and YouTube uploading, with more features to be announced at a later date.
It seems that Oddworld is coming back in a big way, with these announcements only covering the tip of the iceberg. Next week should bring new assets for all of these titles, and when those make their way into our inbox, we’ll be sure to share them with you. Also, they’re making a strategy game for tablets based on the cancelled “Hand of Odd”.
