Do you own a PS3? Do you frequently check the PlayStation Network Store for hot new releases? How about for Call of Duty map packs? Is it the year 2011? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need to know about some of the upcoming PSN titles that will blow your mind out in a car (with exxxtreme enjoyment). We, the editors at PSNStores.com, know about said titles. Here’s one of them:
Journey
I’ve always been a firm believer in the ability of games to deliver something more than the average experience you’d expect. Whether it’s wreaking havoc in the evolutionary chain in flOw, or gently floating on a breeze in flower, thatgamecompany is a veritable whirlwind of creativity in an industry that oh so often seems to fall back on tried and tested ideas, favouring the “safe bet” as opposed to attempting something truly new and innovative. And here comes Journey, a game where you wander through a desert, with multiplayer. Shine on you crazy diamonds.
In all seriousness, Journey is at its very core an exploration game, with the player tasked with exploring a vast expanse, and perhaps figuring out what riddles lie within the very sand they tread upon. Taking the role of an unnamed figure in a cloak, the game appears to take a very open ended nature in terms of how it presents its world, with every new screen shot we see from the game presenting new environments and more and more opportunities for exploration.
This is without mentioning the extremely mysterious multiplayer component, which may have players meet people on their various travels, perhaps aiding them in their own trials, teaming up to tackle a particularly tricky obstacle, or maybe even standing alongside each other and watching the sands shift before them. This is a game that thrives on the feeling of not knowing what may be over the horizon, and it’s for this very reason that Journey is one of my most anticipated games of this year.
