Brad Shoemaker from Giant Bomb interviewed Dylan Cuthbert last week at GDC. During the interview Dylan let out some new details on the upcoming add-on to PixelJunk Racers, aka Racers 2nd Lap.
First off the game will now have some trophy support. This was a big request made by many of the users who currently own the game. I know that I was hoping that it would get trophies at some point. Besides the trophies, there will now be YouTube upload support. This has been a main stay in the PixelJunk series.
The most exciting feature that 2nd Lap adds is “Ghost Attack Mode”. Anytime you do a race you can save the ghost data for it. Other players or your friends can download that ghost data and then race against it. I can see lots of trash talking amongst friends with this new mode. Dylan also notes is that the game has been made easier. I know a lot of people had problems with the game’s difficulty.
No price or date is set yet for 2nd Lap, but Dylan does say that he thinks it will be out next month in the interview. As for pricing options, it will come as either a full download or just the add-on if you have Racers already. It should also be fairly cheap, under $5. In the video I hear the $1 or $2 mark being thrown around.
Hopefully we will have a trailer for this game soon, sounds like that many of the problems have been addressed.
