After being out on the Japanese store for almost a year now, adhoc Party is finally coming to North America and Europe.
For those of you that don’t know, adhoc Party is a tunneling services that lets you play PSP games in adhoc mode over the internet using the PS3. Not only can you do that, but you can also text chat or just plain voice chat while playing. I have sunk over 200 hrs into Monster Hunter 2, 2G, and Freedom Unite using this service, it is awesome. There are some restrictions though, being that your PS3 must be using a wired connection and it must have wifi (Sorry OG 20GB users 🙁 ). Every game I have tried in the Japanese version works, so I think it will be the same here.
Here is the rundown of what adhoc Party really is. There are ten worlds labelled A through J. Inside each of these worlds there are 64 lobbies that can hold up to 32 players each. Once you join a lobby you will see your avatar. Your avatar can do a few emotes as well as text chat while waiting to join or make a room. A room is made for either 4 or 8 players. Once inside a room you will be able to text and voice chat will the players that join you.
In the official press release there is no release date other than November listed, but Capcom mentioned on twitter that it will be coming November 19th. Seeing how Monster Hunter is the most played game on the Japanese version of adhoc Party, I will take there word for it.
